The Titan Innovation Centre, located within the Jewellery factory at Hosur, was inaugurated by the Deputy Chairman, Tata Sons, Mr. Cyrus Mistry, on 27th November, 2012. While inaugurating the Centre, the deputy chairman also addressed the gathering and stressed upon a company taking care of all its stakeholders.
This is what he wrote in the visitors’ book “It has been a memorable visit to see the Innovation Structure but more so to meet the people. “Think Big”.
At the core of the creation of the Innovation Centre stands the Company’s firm Commitment to Innovation and the desire to be a National Leader and the Global Benchmark in this area.
Good ideas flourish in a creative and intellectually provocative environment. Many good ideas have been ignited in places that are unrelated to the context of the invention ( such as Newton’s Apple)
Places that are frequented by a diverse mix of people with different backgrounds and skills, where new ideas can be discussed and bounced back freely, places that are colourful, stimulating, and maybe even a bit chaotic, are breeding grounds for creativity and innovation.
Providing this free, creative Innovation centre space, where interchange of ideas and unhindered experimentation has a home, also offers a platform to recruit potential innovators or discover existing ones.
The Innovation centre is a place to generate great ideas. it consists of two halls. The first hall is the Xerxes Desai Hall of Creativity, which harbours the Exploration Laboratory, Reference library and Study Area. The second hall is the Bhaskar Bhat Hall of Tranquillity, is the hall where prospective innovators can meditate, introspect, listen to lectures or practice yoga.
